Native American Jewelry - Most Either Love It Or Hate
It
There are those that love
Native American jewelry, and those that hate it. That's why if
you are considering it as a gift you should definitely know the
taste of the person you are giving it too. It's just too much
of a risk to give it to someone that you don't know that
well.
Those that love Native American jewelry are typically drawn
to more artistic items. Somehow these pieces which are
generally handmade seem more "interesting" for lack of a better
word. This jewelry reflects the personality and pride of the
person making it. It's not the typical sparkling item you'll
see in most traditional jewelry stores where you'll find more
items that are seemingly stamped out. Native American jewelry
is generally made from more colorful earth stones. It is made
and designed with care and can be every bit as attractive as
more traditional pieces. The only thing missing is the large
price tag.
Turquoise is the stone you'll see the most in Native
American jewelry. Generally it will be a very deep green or
more of a sky blue color. It commands attention, which could be
another reason so many people love the look.
And the normally low cost means you can expand your
collection to include any number of pieces and you'll find
yourself wearing different jewelry every day of the week. The
low cost also means it makes an excellent gift for friends,
again, as long as you know it is something they like. If the
recipient is seen only wearing traditional jewelry, stay away
from this as a possible gift. Chances are they won't like it
and the fact that it was hand made will not appeal to them at
all.
Another good thing about Native American jewelry is that it
is so easy to find. In fact you'll find a great selection in
the jewelry store section of this website. If
you prefer to see it in person first, with a little research
you're sure to find a store near you. As this jewelry grows
in popularity, more and more stores are appearing that
specialize in Native American jewelry.
Of course the best way to get your Native American jewelry
is to visit a reservation. It's really an incredible
experience. In my younger days we would always go. The primary
reason for our day trips was to visit the casinos, but we never
failed to stop and take a look at the jewelry made by the
locals.
